‘This crematorium is a contemporary interpretation of landscape-integrated crematoria from the early nineteenth century, like Skogskyrkogaarden in Stockholm. Every effort has been made to transform an anonymous site into a beautiful landscape integrated into the ceremonial experience of the crematorium. The building skilfully unifies the two contradictory elements in the content, the technical and the ceremonial, with an abstract composition of elements on a tilted ‘table’ that is expressed embedded in the forest. Seen from a distance, it alternates between extreme presence and a feeling of Fata Morgana.’ Dorte Mandrup
