Rules for participation in the vote for the People’s Choice Award of the Brussels Architecture Prize 2023.
Article 1: The Brussels Architecture Prize
The Brussels Architecture Prize is an architecture prize awarded every two years at the initiative of the Brussels-Capital Region. The prize competition is organized by Urban.Brussels in co-production with A+ Architecture in Belgium, hereinafter referred to together as the Organizer. The registered office is established at: Rue Ernest Allard 21/3, B-1000 Brussels, VAT BE0413.518.522, RPM/RPR Brussels. Article 2 : The People’s Choice Award
The Brussels Architecture Prize includes a People’s Choice Award, where the public can vote online for one of the projects selected by the panel of judges, in accordance with the general rules of the competition.
The winner of the People’s Choice Award of the Brussels Architecture Prize will receive a statuette as a trophy. Each architect and/or contracting authority who so wishes can mention the fact that their realization has obtained a prize or been shortlisted for one, subject to including the wording ‘Brussels Architecture Prize 2023 of the Brussels Region, in collaboration with A+ Architecture in Belgium’.
These rules for participation in the vote for the People’s Choice Award (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Rules’) complete the General Rules for the Brussels Architecture Prize competition.
Article 3: Who may vote?
Participation in the vote for the People’s Choice Award is only open to individuals of legal age with the legal capacity to act. Participants must also each have a valid email address.
Excluded from participation is anyone who, in any way whatsoever, is directly or indirectly involved in the organization of the Brussels Architecture Prize.
Article 4: Voting procedure
4.1 Participation in the vote for the People’s Choice Award is only possible by completing the voting form available on the website: https://brusselsarchitectureprize.be/en/vote/.
4.2 The online voting procedure will take place from 31 August 2023 to 5 December 2023 at 23:59. The Organizer reserves the right to modify these dates, without engaging its responsibility in any way. Should such a modification be necessary, the Organizer will publish it on the website: https://brusselsarchitectureprize.be/en/vote/.
The project which obtains the most votes at the end of the vote will win the People’s Choice Award. In the event of a tie, the voting deadline will be exceptionally extended by 24 hours, in order to obtain a single winner.
4.3 Each participant may vote for one project only, regardless of the category in which it has been selected.
4.4 Only individual participations are accepted. Only one participation per person and per email address is accepted. Group participation is not permitted and is excluded. The Organizer reserves the right to exclude participants who nevertheless participate several times individually or in groups.
4.5 To cast a valid vote, the participant, in addition to voting for a shortlisted project, must also fill in correctly and completely the mandatory fields of the voting form. Moreover, participants must confirm their votes by clicking on the link sent by email to the address entered in the voting form.
The following will be declared invalid:
- Participations not fully completed with the mandatory information
- Participations mentioning an incorrect or questionable identity.
- Participations that fail to meet the participation criteria of these Rules.
- Participations that have not been validated according to the above procedure.
4.6 Participation in the vote implies full and unconditional acceptance of these Rules and of any reasonable decision that the Organizer may take in order to ensure the proper conduct of the vote. The participant cannot derive any voting rights as a consequence of errors in the system, whether of a technical or editorial nature.
4.7 Any form of fraud, attempted fraud, abuse or attempted abuse and/or reasonable presumption of fraud or breach of the Rules may result in the exclusion of the participant, without prior warning being required. Participation is then considered non-existent. In addition, the Organizer reserves the right to take the necessary legal steps against any person guilty of fraud, attempted fraud, abuse or attempted abuse.
Article 5: Personal data
In the context of participation in this competition, the Organizer will process personal data in accordance with the privacy statement of the non-profit organization Centre d’Information pour l’Architecture, l’Urbanisme et le Design (CIAUD), having its registered office at Rue Ernest Allard 21/3 in 1000 Brussels, Belgium, registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE) under number BE0413.518.522, it being understood that the data provided will be used to ensure the smooth running of the competition and the newsletter of A+ Architecture in Belgium.
Article 6: General provisions
6.1 The Organizer cannot be held responsible for any damage, direct or indirect, caused to persons (participants or non-participants) or to objects in the context of their participation in this competition. This includes technical problems and/or computer errors (hardware and software) arising from participation in the competition. The Organizer also rejects all liability in the event that participation via the website https://brusselsarchitectureprize.be/en/vote/ is temporarily unavailable or permanently impossible or if the connection is interrupted. Neither may it be held responsible for any prejudice caused to the prize(s) or for the loss of the prize(s).
6.2 By the sole fact of participating in the vote, the participant accepts without limitation or reserve all the provisions of the Rules as well as any decision that may be taken by the Organizer on the occasion of or in the context of the competition. The Organizer reserves the right to amend these Rules at any time. The Rules and any modification thereof will be published on the website: https://brusselsarchitectureprize.be/en/regulation/. The fact that a provision of these Rules is declared null and void does not affect the validity of the other provisions.
6.3 In the event of a dispute, Belgian law is applicable and the Belgian courts have sole jurisdiction. Any remark or complaint concerning these Rules should be sent by registered letter, at the latest five working days after the close of the vote, to: A+ Architecture in Belgium, Rue Ernest Allard 21/3, B-1000 Brussels, Belgium.
